My blog was mentioned in the news for the first time ever! Check out this link. It’s an article about the Digby Scallop Days 5k. It’s mostly about the guy who won, but I’m in there – along with a mention of my blog. Pretty exciting.
There’s also a photo gallery with pics of the race – and the race director, Kelli Janson, has posted some race pics on her facebook page.
The article is really nice to see – not because I get a passing mention but because it actually tells a bit about a local runner. Most of the time, if a race gets mentioned in a paper at all, it’s just names and times. This one goes a bit further – gives readers some human interest behind the names and times.
I think it would help raise the profile of running in Nova Scotia if newspapers took more of an interest in the races. Of course, that would take time and human resources they may not have – but it would be nice to see more than just hockey, football, and baseball covered when it comes to local, amateur sport.
